THANKS TO YOU, PARENTS!

PARENTS NOTES

BEGINNERS' PARENTS
NOW THAT THE INSTRUMENTS ARE HERE AND WE ARE UP AND RUNNING,
please be advised that YOU are now in training also !! (LOL)
TWO THINGS:
1. Please arrive no less than 10 min before class time.
2. Remember you should be observing the class, helping your child,
taking notes if needed,
Then you can help your child practice.
Find a time, (10 or 15 min max for now, the same time every day, which works for your family. Then it is built into the schedule, just like bedtime, or dinner time.

THANKS SO MUCH, TO
Susan dal Dosso, Tammie Thompson and Bradley Georges
for spending their morning helping with this rather large task!
Tuesday morning was a BIG EVENT for MATT!
We unloaded our NEW INSTRUMENTS , labelled them and organized them for delivery to our VERY PATIENT TUESDAY BEGINNERS!

We are very happy with the quality of our new instruments,
which were made especially for us!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO REMENYI HOUSE OF MUSIC,
AND ESPECIALLY TO TD MUSICOUNTS!!

Next week we hope to  have photos of our beginners!

INSTRUMENTS WERE NOT DELIVERED MONDAY

 UPDATE NOTICE FOR
TUESDAY BEGINNERS CLASS PARENTS:

Tuesday October 20, 2015

NO TUESDAY BEGINNER CLASS TODAY.
Since our instruments unfortunately did not arrive on schedule yesterday we will be unable to have them picked up and ready by this afternoon. They will arrive some time today, but this does not allow us enough time to pick them up from downtown Toronto, label all pieces, record assignments, and have them ready by class time.
Of course we are all very disappointed with this but it can't be helped.
We sincerely apologize for this delay.

PARENTS will be pleased to hear that, due to the unforseen late arrival of instruments this term, we will credit you for the 3 classes held so far, and begin your 12 week series of lessons starting next week  October 27th. A FRESH START for all!

NEXT WEEK PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY so we can hand them out in an orderly fashion and resume our classes!
IN the meantime, be sure to prepare by reviewing bow exercises and you string names

Still looking forward with great anticipation !
Again, thank you for your understanding and patience.

SANTA CLAUSE PARADE?

PARENTS NOTES

Shannon Dickson (Mom of Ali and Meghan) has suggested we participate in the
Brampton Santa Claus Parade, November 21st
This is always a beautiful night time family event . We will NOT be playing, just displaying our banner, and marching in the parade, or possibly sitting on a float. The plan is to broadcast some beautiful music as we go by, if that can be done.
IF we have 20 students signed up by this Tuesday, we will register. The deadline is this Friday. If we have the numbers, then Shannon will head up the details.
It costs $300 to join in, and so we will ask a $10 fee for each student.. We are a non- profit organization, and would contribute up to $100, as a form of advertising and community goodwill, if necessary. The Parade Organization covers most other costs for us as a Non Profit.
Please speak to Shannon about this if you have any questions - Akilah has her number.

I think the children would enjoy the experience; we would need to be sure to keep ourselves warm and dry- no guarantee that it will be excellent weather.

PRIVATE LESSONS START THIS WEEK Oct 13 to 17
for all Intermediate and Advanced students.

If you haven't signed up, call or speak to Akilah Tuesday and book your lesson slot.
ALL STUDENTS are REQUIRED to have a PRIVATE LESSON every two weeks.

INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED PARENTS' MEETINGS
There are a few adjustments to our Private Lesson offerings this year. We would like to make sure everyone understands the changes before we start the lessons, so please come to the beginning of your child's class to hear what's up!

NEW: PARENTS' COUNCIL
Thanks to all the parents who have been helping out with various aspects of our program at concerts, before/after classes, and in other ways as well! I so appreciate that you just jump in and offer assistance when needed.
This year an interested parent has agreed to help co-ordinate these efforts in a more organized way,and to help take over a few of the "non'musical" tasks which are naturally growing bigger as we grow!
Arlene Saunders Georges, has considerable experience and skill with these kinds of organizations, and is a very caring and supportive member of our MATT family (Mom of Marianna and Graeme). She will be introducing herself to you at some point and planning a few short class-time meetings with you, to get started. I know you will all help if you can, in a way in which you are interested and comfortable.
THANKS TO ARLENE, and TO YOU ALL, IN ADVANCE.
                                                The load feels lighter already!

OUR MATT MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM OFFERS
LIVE ORCHESTRA CONCERT OPPORTUNITIES
HERE at  BRAMPTON"S ROSE THEATRE!

This Saturday is the first performance . This has been a quick turn around so if you miss it , just be ready to jump in for the next, and as many as you can! Because it is so important for us, we arrange for lowest possible ticket prices, but we have to plan ahead.
You will be informed early for each future concert.- the next one is on Hallowe'en, after trick or treating, at 8pm,and features the youth orchestra as well- "the Rosebuds" We have found this to be very inspiring for our students, so make sure you provide them with as many  chances as possible  to see what they can do with their instruments!
Our students eventually move into the Rosebuds as the next step in their learning!
