HOMEWORK 

BEGINNERS



 MARK YOUR PRACTICE CHART SESSION EACH DAY WITH CHECK MARKS.

During tuning time before class, show chart to your teacher- if you have 4 days practice marked you may choose a sticker for your chart! 

EACH DAY REVIEW THE FOLLOWING:


1. Sitting position- 
2.PRACTICE the bow hold 5 times before holding your instrument
3. Bow exercises: Windshield wiper, Monkey crawl up and down, Twinkle with coin.
4. Instrument hold. Take the time to practice the correct hold position 5 times, before putting the bow on the string.
5.Placing bow on strings LIFT arm above your string, drop weight of arm onto string, feel it "settle into" the string. 
6. String Cycle: Drop bow onto your lowest (thickest) string. Pull four short strokes, then move to next string and repeat bow strokes. 
  7. 0-1 String Cycle: On each string, as above play 0-1 then go to next string. Listen for correct "doh-re: sound. Check correct round finger position
8. TWINKLE - line 1, 2 and 3. ALWAYS PLAY with correct position !

 CLASS TIME EXTRA HELP Those who are not yet able to easily read the assigned AFS material, will be receiving special help sessions for part of the class, while others move forward with new material.

         This week start:  CHRISTMAS CAROLS for Dec 5, 11 and 12 Concerts!


1. BRING YOUR SCALE SHEET, with  correct fingerings marked in by your teacher, to class. Be ready to play all of these scales well in class, with shifting as required.

2. Mozart Quartet , BROTHER JAMES AIR,  LONDONDERRY AIR, LA PALOMA, BILLY TELL, are all still good pieces to learn. 
WONDERFUL MUSICAL GIFTING TIMES AHEAD!
