Special Dates to Remember

May 26th, 2016

PARENTS: Can you help? We are looking for  wooden or metal wind chimes to use in the final concert piece.  Probably several would work beautifully. IF you can loan us yours for this Tuesday and concert day, please bring it to class this week (labelled clearly)

YEAR END ITINERARY:

 Every day until June 13th: Practice to perfect your concert pieces  This will ensure you have FUN playing the concert. Do your part to contribute your very best and treat your audience to a beautiful performance. They will be amazed at what you can do!

MAY 31- REGULAR classes at Towers  Percussion players in attendance at 6 pm
Ensemble Rehearsals 4:50 and 5:20( at usual times) with Coach: Leona Davidson

JUNE 7th at TOWERS (LAST DAY OF CLASSES): 
                CLASS TIMES ALTERED
    
    Beginners: Arrive 4:30 Class  4:40 till 5:15

    Intermediates: Arrive  4:40  Class 4:45 till 5:45 pm

    Beginners and Intermediates Bows on the Bus rehearsal 4:45 to 5pm

5pm till 5:15 FINALESilverbirch Rehearsal for ALL students 5pm till 5:15 

   Advanced: Arrive 4:50 Class 6 till 7pm
 Ensemble Rehearsal times: to be confirmed  4:30 to 5:00, 5:20 to 5:50 with Leona 

June 14  CONCERT  DAY at HOLLAND CHRISTIAN HOMES

1. ALL students bring music stands labelled with name, your labelled folder with required music inside, your instrument

2. Wear MATT t-shirts and dress-up clothing (NO blue jeans)

3. All students arrive at 4pm, go (to the right )directly to Harmony Hall to leave cases, etc 

4. Take instrument, stand and folder immediately to Heritage Hall for tuning and staging rehearsal

4:30 to 5:30 Dress rehearsal starts

5:30 to 5:45 break (if needed , bring small snack to eat in Harmony Hall)

5:45 Return to stage for concert performance

6 pm CONCERT starts, ends approximately 7:15.
Immediately take instruments and put safely into cases, return to hallway outside auditorium for  refreshments

TUESDAY June 21 4 to 6 pm

POOL PARTY at Ms Currie's home -rain or shine. Awards and certificates and FUN!
Address and directions to be given in class. Max.10 min. walk from Towers. 
All are invited to bring a small snack to share. 
NOTE If you plan to swim, you must have parent watching you every moment in the water. 


SUMMER PLANS

NO Classes are held over the summer 
All students are encouraged to arrange with your teacher to have a some private lessons. Instruments are kept over the summer by ALL students.
Registration Day for current students is September 13, 2016 .
For newcomers registration will begin in August.

ADVANCED CLASS PERFORMANCE . We have a TOWERS event Sunday August 20 from 11 to 2. - the "Annual BBQ Appreciation Event"   FREE FOOD for performers too!

YES it is summer holiday time , and we would like to "pay it forward" to our Towers Management who provides all of our class and lesson spaces. 
Please mark your calendars NOW and confirm your attendance with Marilyn.

FYI: JUNE 14th Concert starts at 6 pm 
Thinking ahead with Concert planning:
DRESS
Wear MATT t-shirts with dress pants/skirt and dress shoes- NO BLUE JEANS!
TIME of ARRIVAL
All students arrive at 4 pm- for tuning in Harmony Hall and set up in Heritage Hall
we will rehearse from 4:30 to 5:30, break for 15 min.
Assemble in Heritage hall by 5:50 for 6 pm concert start


THIS WEEK: Parent Interviews: Wed/Thurs/Friday

MAY 24th classes /rehearsals for ALL students at Holland Christian Homes

Bring: instrument, music and stand, wear normal school clothes.

Enter at Main Entrance (just left of DUCA sign)
Turn right to unpack cases, leaves coats etc. in Harmony Hall. 
then to go to left again straight ahead to Heritage Hall for class.
 Parking  info: if you cannot find an unreserved spot in front, go to the right (north) behind building- lots of spots. (OR head across the next street south and turn left for more spots) Do not park in reserved spots.


Beginners:  ARRIVE 4:05, CLASS 4:15 TO 5 PM Bring stand, instrument, AFS and Silverbirch music

Intermediates: Arrive 4:35 CLASS 4:40 to 6 PM Bring instrument,stand and folder with all concert pieces

4:40 : "Bows on the Bus" rehearsal- Intermediates and  Beginners

Advanced: Arrive 4:45 till 7pm 

4:50 "Land of the Silverbirch"  CONCERT FINALE rehearsal ALL students
5 pm FRONT DESK PLAYERS accompany Christian in MAY SONG


5:10 to 5:50 Ensembles can rehearse concert pieces B:5:20 to 5:25 then A: till 5:50, in Harmony Hall Others can bring homework and stay quietly in Heritage Hall during Intermediate class. Be there for class start at 6pm
Ensembles will try out a part of their piece on the stage

 ALL STUDENTS Co-operation Required
In order to have as smooth a rehearsal at HCH as possible, please stay seated and quiet while you are in Heritage Hall. Be listening and ready to move quickly when needed. DO NOT leave the hall at any time without permission.

In order to put together and rehearse  larger ensembles  for June 14th CONCERT
we are making some alterations in class times.
Please read and note carefully the following date adjustments

MAY 24th CLASSES  at Holland Christian Homes

HOLLAND CHRISTIAN HOMES @ 7900 McLaughlin Rd. Leave case, coats etc in Harmony Hall, then to go to Heritage Hall for class. Parking  info: TBA

Beginners:  ARRIVE 4:05, CLASS 4:15 TO 5 PM

Intermediates: Arrive 4:35 CLASS 4:40 to 6 PM

4:40 : "Bows on the Bus" rehearsal- Intermediates and  Beginners: 

Advanced: Arrive 4:45 till 7pm 

4:50 "Land of the Silverbirch"  CONCERT FINALE rehearsal ALL students

Please try to be there this early, if you can, for first FULL orchestra  run through of FINALE ,SIlverbirch at 5pm 

5:10 to 5:50 Ensembles can rehearse concert pieces on after the other , in Harmony Hall till your normal class start at 5:50 . Others can bring homework and stay quietly in Heritage Hall during Int class.
