PRIVATE LESSON PLANNING THIS WEEK

SEPT 29, 2016

 PARENT NOTES

ADVANCED AND INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS

1. PRIVATE LESSON PLANNING
All students should be signed up for a private lesson by this Tuesday
Yogita and Andrea are working together to help you find a time which suits your needs. NO START DATE will be announced until the schedule is complete- we hope we can set this by Wednesday after class sign up. Please check BLOG for further info.

We know that most Parents are aware of the important value added to your child's learning through these additional lessons- currently at no extra charge. It is a challenging task to organize
.
We value your appreciation, expressed in your patience and understanding, and sometimes in your supportive words, as we endeavour to match teacher times with student needs.

2.THEORY
After Private lessons are c scheduled, the next task is setting up Theory lessons. Our goal is to provide theory (again currently at no additional charge, but of great benefit to learning) for each child, either on the day of their Orchestra class, or the day of their private lesson.

We do not expect parents to attend MATT more than twice any given week.  Therefore we do not permit teachers to change class times around at will.
The lesson times will remain constant and for Sun and Friday lessons will not be held on long weekends, when some families may wish to be away.
Friday or Sunday lessons will be scheduled to avoid these holiday times, so please watch your dates for these alterations due to school or STAT holidays.

PLAY FAIR Sept 17 , 2016: CONGRATULATIONS!
Dear Students, Parents, Board Members, Friends, and Friends of Friends!
DEAR Advanced 15/16 Students, "Matters"- Rosebudders:
Kalpi, Mya, Leah, Raechel, Leila, Thea, Zoe and Ryan.
I am SO proud of you all, and thank you so much for performing today.  You played well and I hope had fun doing it. ALSO I hear that some of you also helped out with the face/hand-painting as well. A new talent I didn't know you had. We may make more use of that talent in future!
Our best Political FAN, Brampton City Councillor, Jeff Bowman, always loves you, (he hasn't missed a performance in the last year) but today he said, "Every time I hear them they get better and better!" He is right, and the more times we perform the more confident we get too!
We had an amazing team this morning- I am feeling so encouraged about the great support shown for MATT by our parents, Board and Friends.
All summer we have been working to put this project together, and together despite rain, last minute volunteer drop-outs, and small audiences,we pulled off  a great concert with lots of good news as a result.
As some of the parents reminded me, even if market people were intent on getting home quickly this morning, every one of those families now has a MATT flyer in their hands. That's called MATT "branding" and this was a main goal of the initiative.
Rogers Television has now shot the second MATT segment , to be aired over the next two weeks. If you have Rogers, watch for it- as you know their community coverage programs repeat frequently. They would like to come again soon and take some class footage.
AND ALSO
One Rose Theatre volunteer, a member of the Knights of Columbus, who had seen our Guardian article this spring,said-
"Our organization wants to help you- what can we do?" My very quick reply: "We need to purchase a 1/4 size bass right now, but the cost is very high."
He offered to cover that cost for us through the K. of C. organization.
We have learned a lot from this event, and will definitely be better able to plan future outreach projects
I want to thank our fabulous team ,many of whom worked through the summer to help, and thank you to all those able to be there today : Susan Dal Dosso, Kanwal Murtaza, Richard and Wendy Lai, Ky Nguyen, Linette Gowe and Simone, Kendal and John Francey, Nives Bakker and "Mr. Bakker"
Heather Norman, Sean and Shaida Partington and Bem Partington,
Shannon Dixon, Sharon Hooper, Marcia Lovell, Jessica Tiensovan,
Tanisha Hall, Niti Patel, Susan Thomas, Farah Merrick
Shawn Ragoobar and Patrenella Lawson.
Thank you to our Board members: Steve, Frances, Bradley, Arlene and Bill; Wayne Strongman (who invented the project idea) and Leona Davidson.
And a special thank you to MATT student Marianna Georges! who had to cover for the henna/face painter. We have since learned that she had a car accident en route this morning, but is fortunately unhurt.
You are an amazing youhg woman, Marianna!
We have learned a lot from this event, and will definitely be better able to plan  any future city outreach projects.
Much love and gratitude to you all!
