ROSE/ROSEBUD REMINDER: If you haven't taken your child to at least one Rose/Rosebud concert yet this season, it's time! The next concert April 29 is all about Broadway! Deadline for our low prices is April 18th. 
Give your young musicians the chance to see their instrument in action- Its inspiring!

  2. June 13:  Final Concert  (4:30 arrival 6pm concert).

PRACTICE  CHARTS REQUIRED FOR START OF ALL CLASSES 


  Beginners: 

THEORY QUIZ this week! Know your lines and spaces!

 1. Music READING : AFS Review,  read, and learn well- #26
     NEW for Homework: 27, 28 29 30

 2.  Long, long ago:  ALL lines to be learned well , with correct short and long bows

                
  3 D scale- Listen for perfect tuning of notes; Check sitting /standing position, bow grip, straight bow, whole bows

 4 . Review Twinkles : Long Bows
                                           Mississippi Hot Dog- middle bow  
                                           Run Pony  full and short bows
                                           Mississippi mississippi

5. NEW  :PALLADIO: find your rhythms and practice playing those bars
                                   : write in the note names for as many notes as you can 

 
 Reading your staff notes from bottom line up:
Violins: 5 lines: Every Good Boy Deserves Fun.  
              4 spaces : F A C E 

Violas: 5 lines:  (FACE +G) OR Fat  American  Cats Eat  Garbage    
             4 spaces: Great Big Dogs Fight

Cellos and  Bass: 5 lines: Great Big Dogs Fight Always
                                 4 spaces: All Cows Eat Grass
                        

   


       Intermediates: 
                         Practice charts required for start of all classes 
       1. ENSEMBLES- be ready to play your ensemble this week. All students now have an ensemble piece to learn,. Write in your note names and learn your part well.

STUDENT CHALLENGE: We are looking for one or two well prepared  INTERMEDIATE ensembles to play in the June Concert. Work carefully on yours at home -if you would like extra time with a teacher outside of regular class, tell your parents and Ms. Currie .


       2.. REVIEW: Ave Verum by Mozart . Bars 1 to 10 Pencil in note names if needed.

              Continue to learn  notes, then add slurs for smooth and calm effect .

       3AFS Book: # 165 - A: violin 1 B: violin 2,  viola and cello 

       4Scale of G
       5Heart and Soul: NOW WORK ON ALL PARTS. Learn well, with correct bowing.                              Practice UP BOWS after 1/8 rests , and  correct slurs! 
                                        
       6. MARCH. Pr. of Denmark -to bar #26  
              REVIEW with careful counting and military precision!   

7,   PALLADIO!  16th note bars . (Write in note names if needed) Work on perfecting one bar at a time- then add the next bar.
                                                                                

       Advanced: 
                           Practice charts required for start of class every week 

       1. O CANADA: Event Audition piece learn it to perfection!! 

       2. ENSEMBLES. This week each ensemble rehearses for 15 min. Prepare to play for the class next ensemble day!! Learn your part well at home.


STUDENT CHALLENGE: -if your ensemble members are well prepared, and would like extra coaching for the concert, outside of class, let Ms. Currie know.

       6.. Grieg "Holberg Suite": Gavotte For Orchestra BALANCE :Work on special rhythmic bars in correct style and dynamic 
          

        7. PALLADIO scale of F major. 
          Learn 16th note bars one at a time- slow then quick, till they become fun to play!
