 1. INTERMEDIATE STRINGS and CHORAL STUDENTS,

 arrival :9 am performance 10:30 am  further details below

Please NOTIFY Yogita immediately if you cannot attend the Nov 25th Sat morning event or any special rehearsal .

TUESDAY Intermediates :  2 Special Thursday Rehearsals :

 Nov. 16th - THURSDAY, 5:15: combined Tues./Thurs classes. 
                                          Strings only:  
                                   Concert Song, Beethoven 9th, Pizzicato Magic!                                                                Bring Santa Claus.. and Jingle Bells music as well
 Nov.  23- THURSDAY 5:15 Combined Strings with Choral Students .

                         Santa Claus is Coming to Town , Jingle Bells , Doh a Deer 

2. ROSE ORCHESTRA CONCERT ticket DEADLINE : Nov. 23rd. 
for Saturday, Dec. 2, 7:30 pm Concert at Rose Theatre
          ticket DEADLINE : Nov. 23rd. Adults $20 , up to 4 children incl. -$10.
                                  this one is the MOST Family Friendly of the year! 
                                                DON"T MISS OUT!

Here's what's happening at the Dec 2 Rose O. Concert:
  • MATT Advanced Students  Intermission Performance
  • 7pm. Instrument petting Zoo for children
  • Children's Choir
  • Music from Home Alone, and Polar Bear Express
  • Treats and other surprises!
Parent Reminder:  MATT students are required to attend one Rose O concert each year, an important part of their music education, and to earn their MATT Certificate  

3. THEORY CLASSES: Some changes may be made where classes are very small- Yogita will inform you if you are affected.
 Workbooks are available from Yogita :cost $8.00. Please bring EXACT change, or bring $10 in bills and donate $2 to MATT! 

4. T-shirts : T shirts not already available will be arriving for Nov. 21, 22, 23rd pickup

5. Advanced Students Blouses/ shirts. A special dress shirt /blouse is worn for our Rose Theatre concerts. Please make sure you have spoken to Heather Norman / Susan Dal Dosso about your child's attire, by Tuesday next week.

Dress shirts from last year- new Advanced students must be fitted for this special attire.

ALL MATT STUDENTS play : ANNUAL SHOPPERS WORLD MALL CONCERT 7:30 pm
ARRIVAL TIMES: at CHAROLAIS BLVD DOOR:

                                                  7pm: Intermediate Strings

HOMEWORK THIS WEEK

BEGINNERS  NB: BRING COMPLETED PRACTICE CHARTS TO CLASS -
                                  requirement :4  practice sessions per week.
1. REVIEW DAILY :Repeat 3 to 5 times each :
               a). Review: correct bow grip, sitting position, instrument hold. 
               b). Music alphabet: abcdefg  repeat abcdefg etc
               c). Name your strings

2. String Cycle- TWO rhythms: "Mississippi Hot dog" middle bow
                                                     "Run pony" :  on each string - long short short

.  Remember  that your elbow will change levels for each string

3  Complete.last week's THEORY HOMEWORK SHEET- Read and fill in the 2  questions carefully.
1. Your Clef sign and 2.  lines and spaces Name your lines and spaces from the bottom up.


4. " 0-1 string cycle "  Review carefully the correct placement of first finger- Review HOW to find your first finger spot correctly

5. NEW Hand out- How to play all the notes of the D Scale
6.  Review  "TWINKLE" LINE 1 D D A A / B   B  A___/

INTERMEDIATE

   FOR Nov 25th Santa event: 

1. Jingle Bells- learn with short notes- for happy effect! 

            
2. "Here Comes  Santa Claus" .
  (a) Practice playing to the end 
  (b) Write in notes names for ALL notes of the song.
3. CONCERT SONG AFS #75 very smooth bowing
                                             
4. Pizzicato Magic   

5. Beethoven's Ninth - Practice- bar 21 to the end  

                                  Violas and cellos- learn your melody bar 13 &14

6. Doh a Deer: D scale 

                      
ADVANCED CLASS

 ***BRING COMPLETED PRACTICE CHARTS TO CLASS 5 sessions per week

1. NEW or Review: "Variant on English Carol" -learn for next Tuesday


2. G scale: Eleanor Rigbycellos: learn  important bars- 4, 26, 28 to 31
                                                                                    new bass notes bar added

    ALL: Work on your  Melody Bars. 
            :Practice Spiccato bowing for short notes- strong bounced bow
                              

3. D scale Jingle Bells Hoedown-
                 Review ALL- find tough parts and repeat repeat till very comfortable

                                                               
                Mark in notes and finger numbers with pencil where needed.                              
   
4. D scale Andante Cantabile:ALL  work especially on:
                                                  CELLOS: bar 43 to 57
                                                  EVERYONE: bar 58 to the end
                                                  ALL:  REVIEW all of your hard bars . 
                             Cellos switch to bass part : bar 59 to 64


5. G scale Blue Tango:  Practice the whole piece! Play with PASSION!
